The Jackson Roll Cage Kit delivers a true custom-fit roll cage without the time, cost, and guesswork of designing one from scratch. Every tube is precision pre-bent by Metal-tech 4x4 to ensure proper fitment to the FJ40 body, while still allowing the installer flexibility during final fit-up.
All straight tubes are pre-notched on one end, with additional length left on the opposite end so you can fine-tune alignment based on your vehicle, tub condition, and installation preference.
The Jackson Cage is an excellent option for FJ40s running side-folding rear seats, providing added passenger protection with an OEM-style rear side hoop. For vehicles with forward-facing rear seats, consider our Full Profile Cage Kit, which offers a different rear configuration. All Metal-tech roll cages are designed to fit factory hard tops as well as most aftermarket soft tops.
Premium DOM Steel Construction
Our roll cages are built from 2" x .120-wall DOM SRA tubing, custom-produced to Metal-tech 4x4 specifications.
Unlike standard DOM tubing with typical elasticity in the 10–12% range, our proprietary tubing delivers 20–24% elasticity, allowing the cage to absorb more energy in the event of a rollover instead of transferring impact forces directly to the occupants.
All cage designs are properly engineered in compliance with SCORE racing standards.
Early-Style Jump Seat Fitment – Video Overview
We often receive questions about inboarding early-style rear jump seats when installing a roll cage.
This short video was filmed on the fly for a customer who had that exact question. At the time, we happened to have a 1972 Toyota FJ40 in the shop receiving a Full Profile Roll Cage with modifications specifically for early jump seat fitment. Rather than wait, we recorded this walk-through to visually explain how the cage interacts with the seats and what considerations need to be made during installation.

Configuration Recommendations
One of the most popular configurations includes:
- Grab handles
- Dash crossbar
- Front center overhead bars
Front frame ties are always recommended to properly transfer loads to the frame. Rear frame ties are strongly advised if the tub shows signs of fatigue or rust.
Rear overhead bars are a great upgrade but should be selected with rear passenger headroom in mind.
For more aggressive off-road use, hip guards and a rear seat belt crossbar can be added now or at a later date.
