Metal Tech GX470 Rear Coil Conversion Stage 3 (Stock Height)
The Metal Tech 4x4 GX470 rear coil conversion kit solves all these issues by removing the air bags and replacing with new stock height coil springs We achieve this by reproducing what Toyota developed for the Toyota Prado, 4Runner, and FJ Cruiser rear suspension setup. First there is a bolt on spring locator that mounts to the axle housing with a polyurethane spring tail isolator that slips over for the bottom of the coil spring to rest on. Then we use a brand new stock height coil spring with a factory Toyota Prado 120 secondary spring isolator that keeps the spring in place and acts as a secondary spring when the axle comes in hard contact when coming off a ledge.
This rear coil conversion kit is designed to be used for people who want to get rid of their air bags all together and go to a traditional coil spring at factory ride height. This is kit is 100% bolt on with no additional modifications required. You will need to remove the fuse/relay inside the engine bay, as well as pulling the TEMS fuse in the dash

After driving the GX470 for 3 months with the rear end floating and bouncing around I found this site after a Google search. I'm so glad I bought this kit along with a pair of KYB shocks for an 04' 4Runner (thanks John). This thing rides better at 133k miles than when I bought it 5 years ago. Thanks to John and the Metal Tech crew for building this kit. It is so much better than stock.

As if waiting for 2 minutes to drive the car from the start wasn't annoying enough, apparently every 40,000 miles you have to replace the air bags in this stupid adjustable suspension (that adjusts itself back to normal height at about 5 MPH anyway). This is the dumbest option any car manufacturer has ever offered... Do yourself the favor of throwing these springs under there, and you too can drive with a functioning suspension system like everyone who didn't buy this SUV! The parts fit perfectly, and the instructions for installation are quite helpful, right down to which fuses to pull in order to deactivate the dashboard display and the air compressor. This is the best thing I ever did for my GX.

Do you have a GX470? Do you come out in the morning and the rear end is noticeably low? Does your compressor turn on every time you start engine? Does the rear end hit the bump stops every time you hit a bump? Does the rear end feel like it's wonky and weak?
Then you need to buy this conversion kit!!
My GX is back to it's former glory! No more shaking at 65-75MPH and it rides like new!

Rides smooth easy to install I recommend the conversion kit if your having issues with your factory rear airbag system like mine was
